But if you buy by 14 January and travel between 19 January and 25 March you can find Eurostar return tickets to Paris and Brussels for £59. The same fare applies to Calais and Lille; tickets to any Belgian station cost £69 return (eurostar.com).

Venice in winter

Avoid packed piazzas and clogged canals with a winter trip to Venice.
