The world’s best airports for 2023 have been revealed.

Singapore’s Changi Airport has been given the accolade in this year’s World Airport Awards.

The awards are created by airline and airport ranking site Skytrax, and winners are based on the results of a global airport customer satisfaction survey.

Doha’s Hamad International Airport came in second place, having dropped from the top spot in 2021 and 2022.

Tokyo Haneda and Seoul Incheon were awarded third and fourth places respectively, while Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport took fifth place.

This is the 12th time Changi Airport has been awarded the best airport title.

The 2023 win comes after the Singapore airport took third place in 2022.

The southeast Asian transport hub boasts an indoor rainforest, mirror maze, tube slide and waterfalls, plus a rooftop pool and jacuzzi offering a vantage point for planes taking off.

Skytrax CEO Edward Plaisted said: “After being severely hit during the Covid-19 pandemic, it is pleasing to note that passenger numbers at Changi Airport are now at about 80 per cent of pre-Covid-19 levels, and expected to return to pre-pandemic levels by 2024.

“This recognition for Changi Airport is from the airport customers and serves to underline the airport’s popularity with international air travellers.

“Winning this award as the World’s Best Airport is a very clear recognition of the team effort amongst all staff at the airport who contribute to Changi Airport’s success”.

Singapore Changi also won awards for World’s Best Airport Dining, World’s Best Airport Leisure Amenities and Best Airport in Asia.

Hamad International Airport also scooped a further three awards – World’s Best Airport Shopping, the Best Airport in the Middle East and the Cleanest Airport in the Middle East.

Tokyo Haneda was named the World’s Cleanest Airport and the World’s Best Domestic Airport.

Meanwhile, Incheon Airport won World’s Best Airport Staff Service, the World’s Best Airport Immigration Processing, and Best Airport Staff in Asia.

Additional awards include Helsinki Airport taking Best Airport in Northern Europe, Instabul wining Most Family Friendly Airport and Seattle–Tacoma International Airport being awarded Best Airport in North America.

Finally, Zurich Airport was given the World’s Best Airport Security Processing award, while Bahrain International Airport won World’s Best Airport Baggage Delivery.
