Travel: Departures: Weighing Angkor
A NEW guidebook is devoted to one of the world's greatest religious complexes: Angkor: an Introduction to the Temples (Odyssey, pounds 11.95). It covers the site meticulously but nowhere does the book suggest how, or indeed if, you should go there.
The continuing strife between the new government and the Khmer Rouge threatens the safety of travel to Siem Reap (the town closest to Angkor). The Foreign Office advises that visitors should check with the British Embassy in Phnom Penh before making the trip.
