Flights between London and Orly airport in Paris begin next Monday, subject to another last-minute spat of the sort which has already led to two postponements.

British Airways and TAT intend to operate four flights daily, to be joined by Air France, Air UK and British Midland.

British Airways' new timetable lists four different ways to reach central Paris from Charles de Gaulle, but none at all from Orly. If your final destination is in central or southern Paris, take the Orlyval rail link from the terminal to Antony station on RER line B, which gets you from the airport to central Paris in half an hour for Fr45 (about pounds 5).

The frequent Orlybus service to Denfert-Rochereau takes 20 to 40 minutes, costs Fr25 and links you up with the Metro system.

For rail travellers heading southwest, Air France runs a frequent bus to Montparnasse TGV station for Fr32.
