Eurovision: Graham Norton jokes EBU rules with ‘iron fist’ after Zelensky’s request blocked

Graham Norton joked that the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) rule the Eurovision with an “iron fist” after Volodymyr Zelensky was blocked from speaking at the event.

The EBU feared the address of Ukraine’s leader would be too political.

The prime minister’s spokesman said Rishi Sunak was “disappointed” at the decision during a time Ukraine is fighting for “fundamental” values and freedoms.

In the press conference with the hosts of the Eurovision Song Contest 2023, Ukrainian presenter Julia Sanina also said she hopes to bring “some joy and light” back home.
