Tiler who used lottery winnings to buy pool table now set to represent England

A tiler who treated himself to a pool table after winning £2.4 million on the National Lottery is now set for his “proudest moment” as he prepares to represent England at the European Pool Championships in Malta.

Neil Jones, 59, had just £13 in his pocket when he and his partner Julie Kirkham won the life-changing amount of money just before Christmas 2010.

Neil said: “I am so proud. To pull on an England shirt in any sport is every schoolboy’s dream. To be asked by your peers to captain your country…well I can’t put it into words.

“I just wish my dear dad was here to see it.”
