‘I don’t buy that’: Grant Shapps condemns Priti Patel’s criticism of Tory party

Grant Shapps has dismissed Priti Patel’s criticism of the Conservative Party, in which she accused Rishi Sunak of overseeing a “managed decline.”

The former home secretary told the i newspaper that she believes the party, in its current form, “seems to want to manage status quo,” and warned that if it carries on “there won’t be a future for conservative values and beliefs.”

Ms Patel’s comments came as she was due to be the keynote speaker at a conference for the Conservative Democratic Organisation (CDO), a group set up by Boris Johnson supporters after he was ousted as prime minister.
