Gertcha tickets now!

Your pub-quiz question of the week: A BBC4 documentary on which musical legends opens with the words, “They’ve toured with the Beatles, opened for Led Zeppelin and been sampled by the world’s leading hip-hop artists?”

You’re thinking the Stones, the Faces, The Who and so on, right? Nope. Because the answer is Chas & Dave, who are celebrating 50 years in the business with a new album (That’s What Happens, out 28 October) and an intimate show at London’s Union Chapel (22 October). Tickets on sale at Ticketmaster now, and if you still don’t believe the duo are ripe for critical reappraisal, watch the documentary:

The White stuff

Remember Laura White: final seven, series five X Factor, voted off tactically by Louis Walsh leading to a mention in Parliament? Well she’s back, with the upbeat and Amy-ish “Come on Josephine”. And is if to prove she’s better than being bitter, White has chosen to release her debut EP “What My Mother Taught Me” at the end of November, too early to take on this year’s winner in the now-predictable battle for Xmas number one. Watch White’s finest moment:

Good Lorde

Not to be confused with the ¬Eurovision Song Contest-winning Finnish hard rock band, the biggest thing since Lana Del Rey (wonder what she’s doing right now) in the US at the moment is the New Zealand-born singer Lorde, whose debut album Pure Heroine is due out here at the end of October. Watch the video for the incredible single “Royals” before the rest of the UK catches on.

Next week's biggie...

Kevin Harley reviews Anna Calvi’s One Breath. Watch the video for “Eliza":
