Treasures from Budapest: From Leonardo to Schiele

Next month the Royal Academy of Arts is set to showcase one of the finest art collections in Central Europe.

The exhibition from the Museum of Fine Arts, Budapest will feature over 200 pieces, including work by Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, El Greco, Rubens, Goya, Manet, Monet, Gauguin, Picasso and Schiele.

It will be curated chronologically, starting with the 1512 St Andrew Altarpiece, spanning 500 years of European painters, with emphasis on the Italian school.

Works by Royal Academicians Sir Joshua Reynolds, John Constable and Angelica Kauffman will be shown alongside Hungarian artists such as Karoly Ferenczy and Jozsef Rippl-Ronai.

The collection also includes loans from the Hungarian National Gallery.
