Album number who's counting for the man who now seems to have settled permanantly into his BPB alter ego.
A quiet affair, The Wonder Show of the World is neither the best or the worst of the 14 or so albums Will Oldham's made in the past decade. Less studied than Beware, not as dark as Master and Everyone, and if there's a gentle make-it-up-as-we-go-along feel to the thing, that's probably because that's pretty much how it was made. Non-essential, but not without its moments: not least the "Now here's the chorus" bit in "Go Folks, Go".
