Album: Vincent Vincent and the Villains, Gospel Bombs (EMI)
Is it just me or does the accelerated pace of modern culture mean you are often sick of the next big thing before it's even got off the ground? Point is, all those floppy-haired Brooklyn bands I should be loving are leaving me slightly cold, while the skiffle/rockabilly/Shadows-style of 'Gospel Bombs' has had me longing for the days when the word "arcade" made a person think of jukeboxes, not Fire. Rockabilly, eh? Who'd have thunk it could sound so... so... un-Stray Cats and fun. Music? Fun? Remember that? If this is London's take on the next big thing, count me in. For now.
