The Walking Dead season seven has only just ended (in thrilling fashion , might we add) and fans have been given a tease of what to expect in the AMC zombie series' eighth run.
Showrunner Scott Gimple appeared on discussion show Talking Dead when he was asked by host Chris Hardwick to provide fans with some tantalising details of what's to come.
“I say, ‘It’s gonna be bigger, it’s gonna be more intense.' I always mean that, but this year it's the same thing. More intense,” Gimple stated, before continuing: “The first four episodes will melt people’s minds and break their televisions.”
The eighth season is scheduled to begin this coming October and will no doubt pick up where this one's left off: with Alexandria, the Kingdom and the Hilltop -now led by Maggie (Lauren Cohan) - at war with The Saviours.
Among other things, the season seven finale - titled 'The First Day of the Rest of Your Life' - featured the death of a main character as well as an unexpected cameo appearance of a fan favourite.
This episode was dedicated to Bernie Wrightson , a horror illustrator who is a key influence on executive producer and director Greg Nicotero.
