Prince Harry arranged for flowers to be laid on the grave of Princess Diana in a Mother’s Day tribute.

A spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex confirmed to The Independent that Harry had organised the tribute to his mother.

The Princess of Wales is buried in Northampton in the grounds of her family’s home, Althorp House.

Diana’s grave is situated on a tiny island in the middle of a lake. The estate is open to the public and is visited by thousands of fans each year, as well as by her sons William and Harry.

Harry’s tribute came a week after his and Meghan’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.

During the TV special, Harry spoke about his late mother, and said he was concerned about "history repeating itself".

He told Winfrey: "You know, for me, I’m just really relieved and happy to be sitting here, talking to you with my wife by my side because I can’t begin to imagine what it must’ve been like for [my mother] going through this process by herself all those years ago."

Harry also said his mother would have been “very sad” and “very angry” at the circumstances he and Meghan had found themselves in.

It comes as Prince William and Kate paid their own tribute to Diana, sharing letters written by their children to "Granny Diana".

The couple revealed that their children write letters to their late grandmother every year.

In his letter, Prince George, seven, wrote: "Dear Granny Diana, Happy happy Mother’s Day. I love you very much and think of you always, sending lots of love from George xxx."

His younger sister Charlotte, five, had written: "Dear Granny Diana, I am thinking of you on Mother’s Day, I love you very much. Papa is missing you. Lots of love Charlotte xxx."

The couple’s youngest child, Louis, had drawn a love heart picture, accompanied by his name.
