'I feel like I'm in a film': Jayden Danns reacts as Liverpool 'dream comes true'

The FA Cup quarter-final draw took place on Wednesday evening as the remaining eight teams all discovered their fate for the next round.

Reigning champions Manchester City were drawn in an all-Premier League tie against Newcastle United while the lowest ranked side left in the competition, Coventry City, were given a potentially favourable side against Wolves.

Championship leaders Leicester City face a trip away from home as they head south. Their opponents are Chelsea, who managed a last-minute winner against Leeds United in the fifth round.

Finally, there is a barnstorming quarter-final clash between old rivals Manchester United and Liverpool. Both teams made it through their fifth round ties - United beating Nottingham Forest thanks to Casemiro’s late winner, while Liverpool’s kids knocked out Southampton - and are now set on a collision course for the last eight.

‘Impossible’: Liverpool’s ‘unforgettable moment’ makes Jurgen Klopp believe

There are plenty of times when Jurgen Klopp scarcely has the feel of a 56-year-old: when he is bounding about on the touchline or berating fourth officials, when he is at the centre of celebrations with men decades his junior, when, last week after beating Luton, as his captain Virgil van Dijk smiled on benevolently, it was Klopp who turned to all found stands of Anfield to perform his trademark fist pumps.

There are occasional other moments when perhaps he does: when in November he realised his energy was not endless and concluded this had to be his final season at Liverpool or when he was pictured on the plane back from Wembley, dozing with the Carabao Cup in his arms; for the record, Klopp insists he only had a sip of beer.

Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka targets FA Cup glory after penalty heroics

Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka set his sights on the trophy after his penalty shoot-out heroics helped Newcastle into the FA Cup quarter-finals.

The Slovakian, who missed last weekend’s hammering at Arsenal due to illness, saved twice as the Magpies scraped past Championship Blackburn 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw at Ewood Park on Tuesday.

Dubravka denied Sammie Szmodics, who had cancelled out Anthony Gordon’s opener in normal time, and then touched the final kick of the night from Rovers captain Dom Hyam on to a post.

Erik ten Hag defiant in face of speculation over Manchester United future

Erik ten Hag insists he does not need a public vote of confidence from Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Speculation has been rife about the future of the Dutchman as Manchester United manager following investment in the club from Ratcliffe’s Ineos Group.

A promising run of results ended with a poor performance in defeat against Fulham last weekend, putting the focus back on Ten Hag’s position.

That will ratchet up again should United fail to beat Nottingham Forest on Wednesday in the FA Cup, which is their only remaining chance of silverware this season.
