The Blue Bay LPGA tournament that was scheduled for 13-16 May in Hainan, China, has been cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the LPGA Tour announced on Wednesday.

“Given the current health concerns and significant travel restrictions put in place due to Covid-19, the 2021 Blue Bay LPGA is cancelled further to the guidance of our partners, the China Golf Association,” it said in a statement.

“[The event] will return to the schedule in its usual spring date in 2022.”

The event will not be held for a third year running after the pandemic forced the LPGA to cancel the event in March last year while the 2019 edition was not held when they decided to move the tournament from the fall to spring.
