It’s a tough life at the House of Commons. Aperitifs are in short supply, the Cajun food is poor and there is a dearth of ‘fresh game’ on the lunchtime menu.

Elia's career has included stints as head chef of, variously, Delfina, The Whitechapel Dining Room and latterly Joe's in Knightsbridge. She is a familiar face on TV in Market Kitchen and is author of two cookbooks, Full of Flavour, winner of the Female Chef Gourmand Award and The Modern Vegetarian, which has just been re-released by Kyle Books.

Godiva Chocolates, founded in Brussels in 1926, is known for its upmarket milk chocolate. Since 1988, Thierry Muret, a trained chemist as well as chocolatier, has been its development chef. The latest Godiva boutique opens today in Harrods in London.

Sara Galvin began her career working front of house at The Ritz and The Lanesborough, where she met her husband Chris Galvin. Along with her husband and his brother, Jeff, they opened Bistrot Deluxe and Michelin-starred La Chapelle in London. She is now the patron of the latest Galvin outpost: Demoiselle in Harrods, which opened in March, designed and built to her specifications.

A pioneer of nose-to-tale eating and a long-time advocate of the joys of offal, Henderson opened his Michelin-starred restaurant, St John, in London's Clerkenwell in 1994. Along with business partner Trevor Gulliver, he has since opened another restaurant, St John Bread and Wine in east London, and the St John Hotel in central London. He will be cooking a five-course banquet at the Wilderness Festival in Oxfordshire in August.

After working under Alain Ducasse, Hélène Darroze opened her own restaurant in Paris in 1999 and received a Michelin star just two years later. In 2011, her restaurant at the Connaught Hotel in London's Mayfair received two stars from the Michelin critics.

Nine year's later, the company has a turnover measured in tens of millions of pounds and has most recently opened the cuisine de bar by Poilâne in London's Chelsea.

We're snowed in. The ancient stone city of Split and its palm-lined seafront promenade are completely white. No one's ever seen it like this before. Businesses are closed and everyone is out, throwing snowballs.
