It’s St Patrick’s Day today, which means that Guinness is being sunk in festive quantities around the globe and the Chicago River has turned a shade of green. To celebrate the Emerald Isle’s national holiday, our pick of this week’s deals are all island-shaped.

At the heart of the celebrations, City Jet ( cityjet.com) is offering discounted flight fares of £49 one-way from London City Airport to Dublin, for travel between 12 April and 31 August. The special fare is only available today. Ryanair ( ryanair.com) is also offering up to 50 per cent off flights on all its routes for selected dates in late April and early May, if booked by 22 March. Meanwhile, Imagine Ireland ( imagineireland.com) is feeling particularly generous: the self-catering company is offering two weeks’ rental for the price of one on many of its properties, including a house sleeping six in Sixmilebridge, Co Clare. The price of £335 amounts to £4 per person per night and is valid for stays over Easter.

Over in the Mediterranean, the recent and unusual covering of snow is now thawing in Mallorca, so take advantage of Villas4you’s ( villas4you.co.uk) 25 per cent discount on many of its stylish properties before summer temperatures – and prices – kick in. Magrana Catalina in Pollenca is one such villa; sleeping six, it is surrounded by mountains but is still a short drive from the coast at Puerto Pollenca. The weekly rental is just £216.75 if arriving on 27 March, rising to £261 on 17 April.

The Cook Islands offer a tropical take on emerald isles, from the lush vegetation on land to the balmy water that surrounds them. Spend seven nights on two of the idyllic islands with Austravel ( austravel.com) for £1,055 per person. The price includes five nights at The Little Polynesian in Rarotonga and two nights at the Pacific Resort Aitutaki and includes one free return flight from Rarotonga to Aitutaki per couple. The price includes internal but not international flights.

If two islands aren’t enough, then aim for the Aeolian Islands off Sicily. Black Tomato ( blacktomato.co.uk) is offering a seven-night island-hopping holiday from £1,999 per person. The price includes flights, transfers and stays in boutique hotels in Sicily, Panarea, Salina and Stromboli islands. The price is valid for travel between April and October.

Finally, the Maldives are possibly the most perfect-looking islands on the globe. On the atoll of Villingili, Scott Dunn ( scottdunn.com) is offering a 60 per cent reduction at the newly opened Shangri-La resort. Seven nights’ B&B starts at £1,995 per person including an upgrade to a Water Villa and direct flights from Gatwick with British Airways. You’ll have to act quickly though – the offer is valid for travel up until next Friday.
