Atletico Madrid v Inter LIVE: Champions League result as penalty shoot-out decides last-16 tie
Atletico 2-1 Inter (2-2 agg, 3-2 pens): Lautaro Martinez blazed over the bar after goals from Antoine Griezmann and Memphis Depay forced extra time and penalties
Atletico Madrid needed a penalty shootout to edge past Inter Milan and reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League after an exciting last-16 clash ended 2-2 on aggregate.
Jan Oblak saved two penalties and Lautaro Martinez blasted his effort over the bar to send Atletico through 3-2 in the shootout after the match finished 2-1 to the Spanish side after extra time.
Inter opened the scoring in the 33rd minute through Federico Dimarco but Atletico hit back two minutes later with a goal from Antoine Griezmann and Memphis Depay’s goal three minutes from time sent the tie to extra time.
Both teams had chances to win it in extra time but in the end it was Diego Simeone’s side who held their nerve and last season’s beaten finalists exited the competition.
Aletico join an impressive list of teams in the quarter-final draw, including defending champions Manchester City, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.
Arsenal and Barcelona also booked their place this, while the final spot was taken by Borussia Dortmund as Jadon Sancho scored in their 2-0 win over PSV Eindhoven.

What is the team news?
Atletico will be hopeful that Antoine Griezmann and Jose Gimenez will be fit enough to play a part in the second leg after their recent injury troubles, but Diego Simeone will certainly be without Thomas Lemar, Cezar Azpilicueta and Vitolo who all remain sidelined with longer-term injuries.
Inter, meanwhile, will be without first-leg goalscorer Marko Anautovic after the Austrian picked up a muscle injury on the weekend.
