Moorilla, Tasmania

Where wine and art meet: Tasmania's impressive Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) opens in January on the Moorilla Estate, a winery and brewery in the suburbs of Hobart. Get a preview at one of the eight pavilions – visually arresting apartments set on the winery dedicated to an Australian artist or architect and hung with artworks from the museum collection. Expect design classics, hi-tech fripperies and vineyard views.

The accommodation on Longview's stunning 200-acre property has become one of the Adelaide Hills' primary B&B destinations. Offering gourmet breakfast provisions, modern amenities and lush furnishings, you may never want to leave.

Thoughtful touches include fireplaces and a welcome bottle of local fizz. The on-site Restaurant Botanica has won a clutch of awards for both its modern menu and wine list.
