Helen Coffey is a Senior Features Writer on The Independent's Lifestyle desk, covering everything from health and dating to women's issues and work trends. She was formerly the publication's Travel Editor, having first joined The Independent in 2017. Helen previously held roles covering travel at the Evening Standard and Express, following a three-year stint at The Telegraph as the title's Digital Ski and Snowboard Editor. In 2020 she became the first travel editor of a national UK publication to give up flying, and her first book, a flight-free travel memoir entitled Zero Altitude: How I Learned to Fly Less and Travel More, was published in May 2022.
