Scotland and England go head to head in their 2018 World Cup qualifier at Hampden Park on Saturday night.

Gareth Southgate's men remain unbeaten after five games in Group F and are yet to concede a single goal, while Gordon Strachan's side sit six points behind them with fives games to go.

Player to watch...

Marcus Rashford. The Manchester United forward enjoyed a revival towards the end of the season and was subsequently handed a call-up to the senior England squad, with manager Gareth Southgate throwing his support behind the youngster. If he can threaten with the sort of speed and predatory movement he displayed in United's home victory against Chelsea in April, Scotland will be in for a long night.

It's a big game for...

Gordon Strachan. His side currently sit two points off-second placed Slovakia in a tight race for a likely runners-up spot in Group F. With two defeats to their name already, a third would further narrow their chances of qualifying from the group, bringing to an end their World Cup hopes. The Scots have the home advantage and will need to put it to good effect if they're to get any result at Hampden on Saturday night.

Kick off!

We are underway and for those of you who like that sort of thing, England - all in red this evening - are kicking from right to left with Scotland in blue with white shorts kicking the other way, obviously.

It looks like 4-2-3-1 for the Three Lions out the gate but we'll keep an eye on that as the match progresses.

For those of you keeping score Scott Brown is in the book. Yes. Already.

Back-to-back fouls on Dier and then Alli are enough to see him find his way into the ref's book.

That's the least surprising news of the evening over with. All a little scrappy in the very early stages with Scotland, roared on with every touch, perhaps shading it.

Neither team has settled too much just yet.

England-wise Lallana has started on the left-hand side with Rashford deployed off the right. Neither have really got into the game too much as yet though with Kane looking a tad isolated up top.

It's Scotland who have had the better of things so far with Griffiths testing Hart from the edge of the area with the first shot in anger of the game.

England are having to deal with the plenty of aerial balls into the box but deal with them they are doing.

For now at least.

It's all been a bit scatty from England so far. They, as Gary Neville says on commentary, need to settle down a little.

Scotland are benefiting and are continuing to use the loud and very proud home crowd to their advantage.

Alli has shown a glimpse of what he can do with a couple of classy touches but to no avail.

As well as being dangerous in attack Scotland look solid at the back and England are being forced to pass across the midfield without any real cutting edge.

England finally get a glimpse, the ball chipped into Kane is taken down well by today's skipper but his left-foot volley is always high and it balloons way over the bar.

At second look that was a better chance than it first appeared. Kane in Tottenham white would've buried that you feel.

Better from England though.

England definitely looking more dangerous with the ball and are keeping it a lot better too.

Southgate will be a little more pleased than he was in the first 15 minutes or so.

Scotland are very, very compact without the ball and aren't giving their Auld Enemy an inch of space to work.

You feel England's best bet may be down the flanks with their pair of in form full backs.

Walker and Bertrand are pushing on looking to overlap but Scotland have had it covered off for the most part so far.

Bertrand does find some room though and finds Lallana who then crosses for Kane but he can't make a decisive touch and the chance is gone.

The pace has slowed after that frenetic opening with England getting much more of the ball.

The game springs open though when Gordon comes out of his goal but his header falls straight for Kane who lobs it back over his head towards the Scotland goal but it's cleared off the line.

Rashford then pounces but his shot is deflected wide of the post. England building pressure.

Lallana, England's best player over the last 12 months, is getting on the ball a lot more now and the Three Lions are much the better for it.

The Liverpool man is such a classy operator and really makes this side tick with his distribution and movement.

Alli is sprung free in the middle but just when he looks to have got Rashford in space the United youngster takes a touch a little too wide and the chance is gone.
