Haji Wright sent Coventry into the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley after the USA international’s 100th-minute winner secured a 3-2 win to stun Wolves.

In a thrilling quarter-final, the Sky Blues appeared to have squandered their chance at Molineux, having led 1-0 and dominated for large spells, when the Premier League side came from behind to lead 2-1 late thanks to Rayan Ait-Nouri and Hugo Bueno’s goals.

But Ellis Simms’ second goal of the game in the 97th minute appeared to secure extra-time, but Mark Robbins’ side quickly hit their opponents with another fine goal as Wright’s curler three minutes later sent the Championship side into the final four for the first time since 1987.

Coventry will now look forward to Sunday’s semi-final draw before switching focus back to the Championship and their bid for a play-off place.

Wolves 2-2 Coventry

98 mins: Wolves search for a winner but Collins easily collects a cross. Will we have time for another chance and potentially a winner?

GOAL! Wolves 2-2 Coventry

96 mins: Unbelievable! Coventry equalise!

From almost nothing, a goal. Wright drives in on the left and crosses it. O’Hare gets in to nod it behind himself, and Ellis Simms bundles in his second! Tired defending from Wolves, who had a disorganised backline there.

Wolves 2-1 Coventry

95 mins: Nothing clear-cut in added time. Four minutes left, as Ait-Nouri is deservedly awarded man-of-the-match.

O’Hare drives in from the right and lays it to Tavares, who can’t get the shot off.

Wolves 2-1 Coventry

93 mins: Coventry’s last throw of the dice as Eccles and latibeaudiere comes off for Victor Torp and Fabio Tavares.

Ait-Nouri has another chance as he drives in from the left, but it’s straight at Sa.

Wolves 2-1 Coventry

90 mins: There’ll be nine minutes of added time. There’s a hectic pace to the game now. That was Hugo Bueno’s first professional goal, apparently, and it might take Wolves to Wembley for the first time since 2019.

GOAL! Wolves 2-1 Coventry

88 mins: GOAL!! Wolves are now ahead!

Ait-Nouri picks up the ball in his own half, cuts inside the defender and drives at the Coventry defence. He plays a lovely disguised through ball into Huge Bueno, who only came on 10 minutes ago, and the Spaniard buries it into the corner.

GOAL! Wolves 1-1 Coventry

84 mins: GOAL! Horrible luck for Coventry. A ball comes in from the right and it should be cleared, but Latibeaudiere decides to try and clear it with his knee and it falls into the path of the onrushing Rayan Ait-Nouri, who cannons the ball into the back of the net from around six yards.

Wolves 0-1 Coventry

81 mins: Coventry are turning the screw a little now. A fantastic ball in from the left by Bidwell finds Wright, but his shot is right at Sa and he turns it behind for a corner.

Wolves 0-1 Coventry

80 mins: CLOSE! O’Hare is the latest to try his luck from distance, thought it is easily saved by Sa. The ball is collected from the rebound and the cross in is good, but it’s just taken off the head of Ellis Simms, who would have been nodding into a near-empty net.

Wolves 0-1 Coventry

79 mins: Coventry threaten again after a nice interchange of passes between O’Hare, Wright and Simms. It eventually breaks for Ellis Simms, but his shot is straight at Sa.
