Simon Pegg and Nick Frost share Shaun of the Dead-inspired PSA encouraging self-isolation: ‘Don’t go to the Winchester’

‘Stay at home, have a cup of tea and wait for all this to blow over’

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost have released a coronavirus PSA inspired by a famous scene from their hit film Shaun of the Dead.

The actors posted a clip titled “The Plan” on YouTube showing them repurposing quotes from a famous montage sequence featured in Edgar Wright’s 2004 comedy, which was set during a zombie apocalypse.

“So, what’s the plan?” Frost asks, echoing words spoken by his character Ed.

Whereas in the film, Pegg’s Shaun reveals a plan that sees the characters brave the outside world, here he encourages people to self-isolate as per advice from UK government and top medical officials.

“Call mum – make sure she’s okay,” he says, adding: ”If Philip has been infected, follow the NHS guidelines to the letter.”

Pegg continues: ”Don’t go to Liz’s” and urges Frost to stay away from The Winchester “especially if it’s closed.” He adds wryly: “Remember what happened last time?”

He says: “If you can, stay at home, have a cup of tea and wait for all this to blow over.”

Getting serious, Pegg tells Frost: “Above all, don’t be a t*** about things. We’re all in this together – don’t be selfish, look after each other and give someone a call if you think they might be lonely.”

Several celebrities have posted viral videos in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

Gal Gadot united a medley of Hollywood stars to sing ”Imagine” for a clip that was criticised for being “cringey” and ”out of touch”.

UK-based comedians, including Hugo Boss (AKA Joe Lycett), Katherine Ryan and Paul Chuckle, went on to spoof the clip.

Pegg and Frost's new show Truth Seekers will launch on Amazon Prime later this year.
