Arts agenda: Asia's finest artists featured at Art Taipei, Museum Embankment Festival Frankfurt

The 18th edition of Asia’s longest-running art fair, Art Taipei, will showcase Asian art creation at its best. On the other side of the globe, the Museum Embankment Festival will line an 8 km stretch of riverbank with hundreds of artworks.

The New York Museum of Modern Art, or MoMa, puts on a culinary cinema series to honor the head of the Berlin film festival, Dieter Kosslick, and his twin passions of cinema and fine dining with Carte Blanche: Dieter Kosslick, the Culinary Cineaste. Kosslick is a vegetarian and food quality activist who has been spearheading Berlinale for 10 years. He's long been engaged in issues related to food, pleasure and ecology, as well as their cultural significance to cinematic presentation.

Museum Embankment Festival Frankfurt

For the three days of the Museum Embankment Festival, German galleries collaborate to display stunning pieces of artwork, borrowed from their gallery collections, along an 8 km stretch of riverbank in Frankfurt, Germany. Visitors can view the hundreds of masterpieces that line the riverbank while also enjoying the additional outdoors attractions such as music and drama performances that take place during the festival. Approximately 3 million people attend the free event each year, making it one of Europe’s largest cultural celebrations.

Ars Electronica Festival

The Ars Electronica Festival is an annual event that harnesses innovative collisions between state-of-the-art technology, provocative art, and intellectual thinking. It is considered to be the most important digital arts festival in the world and attracts 35,000 visitors annually. 15th Philadelphia Live Arts Festival

More than 1,200 performances will be included in this wide-ranging annual performing arts festival. Theater, dance, experimental art and other events attract tens of thousands of attendees. In addition to the local Fringe Festival plays, Back to Back Theater from Australia and Belgium's Les Ballets de-ci de-là will perform as well as artists from France, England and India. Comparable to San Francisco's International Arts Festival in May.

41st Bumbershoot Music & Arts Festival

North America's largest urban arts festival features an array of visual and performing arts, dance, theater, film, comedy and kids events. But the diverse musical line-up is perhaps the biggest draw. 36th Toronto International Film Festival

A premiere North American cinema event, timed prior to awards season, the Toronto Festival has launched the best of international, Hollywood and Canadian cinema. The event is located at its new home in the Entertainment District, drawing a half-million attendees to screen 336 films from 64 countries, along with panel discussions and workshops. It joins Berlin, Cannes, Venice and Pusan as one of the top accredited film festivals.

Frieze Art Fair
