Bear Grylls, Orlando Bloom and Grayson Perry among celebrities to make postcards for charity

High-profile figures have joined forces to fundraise for cancer charities

Grayson Perry's charity postcard is being sold in an online auction to raise money for fighting cancer

Orlando Bloom, Joanna Lumley, Olly Murs, Pippa Middleton and a host of other celebrities have helped create a postcard exhibition for charity.

High-profile figures from a range of creative disciplines were asked to donate five minutes of their time to making a postcard by hand with a sketch, doodle or quote.

Twelve mums from Northhamptonshire acted as curators for the project, which aims to raise funds for Action Against Cancer and the Brain Tumor Charity.

The response has been overwhelming, with Bear Grylls’ “Never Give Up” depicting mountains with walkers reaching for the top.

Gordon Ramsay signed and dated a doodle of a chef while Joseph Fiennes submitted a photograph of his “ineffable” wife and muse.

Comedian Lumley sent in two postcards reading “Be fabulous forever!” and “Live love”, while Formula One legend Alain Prost has simply signed a piece of white paper from “The Professor”.

Then there is Murs’ fluffy brown dog which could be cute if his eyes were not so red.

Thirty-five artists have taken part from Grayson Perry and Mario Testino to Mark Adlington’s 2008 watercolour of an Arabian leopard.

An online auction of the postcards has gone live online today and will last until this coming Sunday 13 July.

Perry’s psychedelic “Doodle” has the highest estimate at £2,000 while an effort from Kate Moss is expected to fetch £700.
