WORK began this week on Nicholas Grimshaw's 'symphony in glass', the pounds 22.5m Combined Operations Centre for British Airways at Heathrow. The development, housing 900 ground staff and more than 10,000 transient personnel, comprises three buildings, linked by glazed walkways, on 10 acres to the north of the airport. Completion is scheduled for 1994.
