A CHANCE has come up to buy a country house designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens, one of Britain's greatest architects, for what sounds like a very reasonable pounds 450,000 - reasonable given that this is a great Arts and Crafts house within striking distance of central London. Woolverstone House, on the river Orwell in Suffolk, is a large red brick building, with great chimneys and deep eaves, that surrounds a central courtyard. The only snag is that for many years it has been a boarding school for boys: instead of grand bedrooms, there are 17 dormitories, and the stairs are covered in lino. The sale is being handled by Smith-Woolley, of Cambridge (0223 352566).
