An illustrated children's book by US President Barack Obama is set to be published on November 16, announced Random House Children's Books on September 14. Of Thee I Sing: A Letter to My Daughters will be Obama's final title in a three-book deal that has so far included two international best-sellers.
Illustrated by Loren Long (Watty Piper's The Little Engine That Could, Madonna's Mr. Peabody's Apples), Of Thee I Sing comprises Barack Obama's written tributes to 13 Americans, including artist Georgia O'Keeffe, baseball player Jackie Robinson, and first US President George Washington.
Barack Obama is the author of the autobiographical Dreams From My Father and The Audacity of Hope, a book about his policy positions and values. Of Thee I Sing, which he said he was inspired to write by his daughters Malia and Sasha, is his first children's book.
Of Thee I Sing will be out in the United States on November 16. Proceeds from the US book sales will be donated to a scholarship fund for the children of fallen and disabled US soldiers.
While no international release dates are listed, Obama's previous two titles were published internationally by Random House.
