Staring at the Moon, from 'The Cat, the Crow and the Banyan Tree' by Penelope Lively, illustrated by Terry Milne (Walker Books, pounds 7.99), a neat and very fetching parable about the perils of storytelling. The cat and the crow slip into an adventure, fly to the moon and are chased back home by the hullabaloos.
