Kindle bestsellers: 'I, Alex Cross' leads; 'The Lovely Bones' new to the list

Amazon.com released its list of weekly bestselling Kindle e-books on December 29. For the week ending December 26, James Patterson's I, Alex Cross was in the lead, followed by Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol and Sue Grafton's U is for Undertow. 

All three books have held top spots since their release dates, and The Lost Symbol - the longest-standing bestseller of the bunch - was recently named the US's top-selling audio book of the year by Nielsen BookScan.

New to the list this week is Alice Sebold's The Lovely Bones. Published in physical and electronic editions in 2002, the book is now gaining in popularity in anticipation of the January release of the Peter Jackson film based on the novel. Also new is Nicholas Sparks's The Last Song, which previously hovered in the top ten for several weeks after the book was published in September, and Stephen King's Under the Dome, which just became available as a Kindle Edition on December 24.

In other Kindle news, Amazon.com reported that December 25 marked the first day in the history of the company that e-books outsold print editions.
