A Brief History of Tomorrow by Jonathan Margolis
Though slightly hectoring in tone, the author's vision of the future is intelligent and optimistic. No surprise there, since he writes an enthusiastic column on gadgetry for the Evening Standard. Artificial intelligence, bionic implants and quantum computers are "reasons to be cheerful". Sadly, Robbie the Robot won't do the washing-up, but Margolis insists: "the geek will inherit the earth."
