Prawer Jhabvala, who died earlier this year, was as well known for her Oscar-winning film scripts as for her Booker Prize-winning fiction.

These deftly orchestrated tales include the story of a philandering Bollywood star; a passionate intimacy between a German translator and Indian poetess; and an actress who takes revenge on a critic.
