That's Another Story, By Julie Walters
If you can imagine Julie Walters sitting down to tell you the story of her life (with one time comedy partner,Victoria Wood, perhaps chipping in with wry asides) this earthy, moving, but none to sentimental memoir, ending with the birth of her daughter Maisie, is just as you would imagine it.
Walters' voice is witty, strong and surprisingly lyrical; domestic descriptions of her two protective brothers, no-nonsense matriarch of a mother and doting dad, are balanced by fascinating details of her actor's milieu, featuring the likes of Mike Leigh and Jim Broadbent and the comic moment when she is told she has a star part in the film, Educating Rita, opposite Michael Caine. In her confusion, she gasps: "M-Michael Caine? Michael C - Alfie? Alfie is going to play...Rita?"
