Trust Me, I'm a Doctor came close to being declared my new favourite show a couple of weeks ago when they denounced protein supplements as a waste of money and tracked down a medical professional who thinks hip fat is good.

And tonight they made further inroads when Michael Mosley found an expert who doesn't think red meat is bad (admittedly he also found another one who disagreed, strongly) before dismissing the whole "you can't drink on antibiotics" mantra as myth.

Dr Chris van Tulleken made it very clear you shouldn't drink alcohol while taking any medication that makes you drowsy and admitted there were some treatments for a range of conditions (diabetes and arthritis included) that don't mix well with booze. But as for antibiotics, there are "only a couple" that would make you ill when washed down with a glass of red.

Weirdly, as Doctor Van Tulleken explained, mixing grapefruit and medication is a much bigger risk as it affects the way the drugs are broken down. What I concluded from that was less fruit, more wine. Cheers, Chris!
