Unperformed for nearly a century, Euripides' Ion was the re-discovery of 1994 with ATC's Nick Philippou directing not one, but two productions (in Greek and English). Nicholas Wright's excellent production for the RSC starring Jude Law is back at the Pitthis week.

Contrary to earlier announcements of closure, Beautiful Thing has been granted a reprieve. Hettie Macdonald's beautifully deft production is now playing until 21 January.

With no TV celebrities in sight, Anthony Clark's production of Peter Pan at Birmingham Rep is a classic, grand-scale Christmas show. And director Benjamin Twist has come up with a strikingly inventive Cinderella at Manchester's Contact Theatre, with Naomi Radcliffe (above) in the leading role.
