Cecilia Bartoli investigates the life and music of Steffani with Diego Fasolis and I Barocchisti.

Priest, diplomat and probable spy, Steffani composed operas in which the raucous sensuality of the Venetian tradition was overlaid with French and German influences. Bartoli's vocal mannerisms vex and delight – sometimes simultaneously. But for those seduced by the 2010 Royal Opera House production of Niobe, Regina di Tebe, this selection will be irresistible.
