Like a sweet-toothed boy at a wedding breakfast buffet, harpsichordist and organist Ottavio Dantone has cherry-picked the most delicious instrumental movements from Bach's Cantatas.
References to the Harpsichord and Brandenburg Concertos abound in Bach's church music, while less familiar material – the intimate Adagio and Fugue from Cantata 152, for example – is equally dazzling. Full of pomp and tenderness, and minus Lutheran angst, it's a guilty pleasure.
