Chris Rock has announced his first stand-up tour in nine years.

The comedian posted a Facebook Live video announcing his Total Blackout Tour for 2017, announcing the news in front of Los Angeles' famed Comedy Store, a venue with which he and many other comedy legends have a long history.

Rock takes the title of his tour from a tweet he posted before his gig hosting the 2016 Oscars, in which he promised a #blackout in response to the famous #OscarsSoWhite controversy which surrounded this year's ceremony.

"The Total Blackout tour is coming to your town in 2017," he states in the video. "First time in nine years, haven't done it in awhile. Been a little busy, You know, writing Pootie Tang 3 and everything. But hey, it's time."

Rock also promised the tour would consist of "all new material"; with the tour accompanying two stand-up specials which he recently announced he'd be releasing with Netflix, themselves the first since 2008's Kill the Messenger.

All the dates announced so far are in US locations, though it looks as if more dates will be added in the future. Tickets go on sale 7 December and can be purchased here.
