Observations: Sheep(s) draw an admiring flock to the West End

Sheeps have come up with a novel way to make sure that the atmosphere doesn't dip during their new comedy show. They've prepared a little call-and-response routine, asking the audience to shout out encouragement– "Keep going, Sheeps!" – at key intervals.

In the event, they don't need it. Fresh out of Cambridge Footlights, the trio of misfits – Alastair Roberts, Liam Williams and Daran Johnson – have something indefinably special that keeps the giggling going throughout. Their low-key, self-conscious sketches, from an insight into the life of the Poet Laureate to a musical about the perils of fame, are odd, original and very funny.

There's a chance to see the group in action on Monday when The Invisible Dot's New Wave tour rolls into London. The show, a mini Edinburgh Fringe of the fastest-rising stars on the circuit, features last year's Comedy Award winner, Adam Riches, as headliner alongside Jonny Sweet, fresh from filming Chickens with Inbetweeners alumni Simon Bird and Joe Thomas.

Also on the bill are Tom Basden (last seen at the National Theatre), Nick Mohammed (last seen in Ricky Gervais's Life's Too Short) and Will Andrews (last seen on Alan Partridge's Mid-Morning Matters). See them here, before you see them everywhere else.
