Though way behind the likes of the French, Belgians and Dutch, there is a long tradition of competitive cycling in Britain. Remember the legendary Reg Harris and Hugh Porter's Olympic exploits and the recent achievements of Chris Boardman and Graeme Obree in the Tour de France together with the race for the world hour record have led to a resurgence of interest over here. The Eastway circuit in Lea Valley is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and, to celebrate, the annual March Hare meeting is taking place over two days rather than one.

The highlight tomorrow (starting at 1.40pm), is a Senior Calendar race, featuring 1st and 2nd category riders pitting themselves against 20 professionals, while on Sunday there's a women's British Cycling Federation Challenge race (starting at 12.45pm), part of a season-long series, as well as a BCF Veterans Race (2.45pm). There will be races in all categories over the weekend, and with the juniors also getting a look in, there will be cycling to enjoy across the spectrum.
