MANY OF the recent obituaries of Oliver Reed (right) seemed to concentrate largely on his off-screen drinking exploits. But his magnetism as an actor should not be overlooked. In films such as Women In Love, Oliver! and I'll Never Forget What's 'is Name (11.50pm Sky Cinema), he exuded a rare screen presence. In this sparky social satire he plays an advertising hotshot being wooed by a tycoon (Orson Welles). Ignore Michael Winner's frenetic "look at me" direction - very 1967 - and focus rather on Reed's compelling performance.

There is much more to Placido Domingo than being one third of the Three Tenors. He stars as the lovelorn poet in John Schlesinger's Royal Opera House production of The Tales of Hoffmann (8pm Performance). He is supported by a strong line-up featuring Agnes Baltsa, Sir Geraint Evans and Robert Tear.
