WHEN Tartuffe opened in Paris in 1664, audiences were so shocked that the play was banned. Poet and playwright Liz Lochhead's version - Tartuffe a l'ecossaise Nineties-style - would shock the French bard himself. Lochhead first translated the bawdy, satirical verse into modern-day Glaswegian patter in 1987 - ear-bending stuff for those not used to the lingo, but sure to be more than a wee laugh with comedian Carolyn Bonnyman and Lochhead herself heading the Nippy Sweeties theatre troupe.
