Edinburgh Film Festival award winners: the Jury Award, made by the International Federation of Film Critics, went to Mama, Zhang Yuan's story of a mother's attempt to educate her disabled son without the help of the Chinese state. The award for best British feature went to Richard Spence for You, Me and Marley, a tragicomedy about joy-riding in Belfast.

The Channel 4 Young Film-makers Award: Stavros Andonis for Road to Alice. The award for new British animation: A is for Autism by Tim Webb. Best first European screenplay: Clas Lindberg for Subterranean Secrets.
