ETCETERA / Competition: Details No 198
ON THE corner of the frame of which painting by which painter can you find these small boys?
Last week's detail (right) came from the amazing 'Resurrection' wing of the Isenheim Altarpiece - the magnum opus of the painter traditionally but wrongly known as Mathias Grunewald, and actually named Mathis Gothart Neithart (or Mathis Neithart, called Gothart). As ever, any reply basically on the right lines was eligible. The Altarpiece is in the Musee d'Unterlinden, Colmar.
The first three correct entries drawn were from: Vicky Ward, of Sandhurst, in Kent; Jed Falby, of Budleigh Salterton, in Devon; and W Heard, of Whitley Bay, Tyne & Wear. Each will receive a bottle of champagne, as will the winners of this week's competition.
Answers, on a postcard please, to DETAILS 198, The Independent on Sunday, 40 CityRoad, London EC88 1HP.
