This week, cultural enlightenment comes from the east in the shape of an expanded Norfolk and Norwich festival. An interesting collaboration exclusive to the event takes place between author Dava Sobel (right) and cellist Philip Sheppard in a joint appearance (Assembly House, 8pm, Tuesday 5 Oct). Sobel will read from her new book Gallileo's Daughter, while Sheppard will perform his new work Harrison's Chronometer, inspired by her acclaimed novel Longitude. Meanwhile, there's a season of Shakespeare on film at Norwich Cinema City, as well as new works from Terry Riley and the Random Dance Company.
Venues around the area (01603 764764) 1 to 17 October
