Pet Shop Boys to headline Festival No.6

The pop sensations will join fellow headliners Laurent Garnier and Todd Terje

The Pet Shop Boys will headline Festival No.6, it was announced on Friday.

With the festival season looming, competition is hotting up to secure the best acts and draw in the biggest audiences.

And having sold over 50 million records, the electronic pop duo, consisting of Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe, is sure to be a big attraction for festival-goers.

Best known for hits including “West End Girls” and “It’s a Sin”, the Pet Shop Boys have been confirmed to appear on the Sunday of the weekend-long festival, along with French techno music producer and DJ Laurent Garnier, and Norwegian DJ Todd Terje.

The Pet Shop Boys will join previously announced headliners Beck and London Grammar. Other acts to play include Norman Jay, Greg Wilson, The Undertones and Jacqui Abbot.

Festival No.6 director Bradley Thompson said: “We are hugely excited to have such a truly iconic act as the Pet Shop Boys playing No.6 this year. They’re one of Britain’s biggest ever bands, but remain a brilliant, groundbreaking live act, and their headline slot is going to be incredible.

“Together with other additions like Laurent Garnier and Todd Terje, this is without doubt our strongest line-up to date, and cements No.6’s position as the ultimate closing party to the festival season.”

It is the final headline announcement for Festival No.6, which is due to take place from 5-7 September in the village of Portmeirion, Wales.

But there are still more announcements to be made in the coming weeks, including a much bigger food line-up, including appearances from Michelin starred chefs and top food writers.

The acts will perform across the entire site, from the historic town hall to the Colonnade gardens, to the picturesque Estuary Stage and the promenade along the river, against a back drop of neo-classical architecture, sandy beaches and palm trees.

The Pet Shop Boys released their twelfth studio album, Electric, to critical acclaim and rave reviews in July last year.
