Films: I know 'Bronson' came out a few years ago, but Tom Hardy gives such an amazing performance. I was captivated throughout. I also saw 'Babylon' the other night. I've seen it many times now. It's a very inspirational British film; it really gives you an insight into the social climate in London in the early 1980s. I watch a lot of comedies; I love the stuff that Eddie Murphy did in the Eighties.

Music: I listen to a lot of old-school disco, r&b and jungle. In terms of current artists, I love what the UK urban scene is doing at the moment with artists such as Wretch 32, N'Dubz, Tinie Tempah and Professor Green. It's taken some of these artists so long to get to the level they are at now. I've grown up with a lot of them and it's amazing to see them finally break out into the mainstream. I love the fact we are no longer looking to the US for inspiration but doing our own thing.

Books: Allen Carr's 'Easy Way to Stop Smoking'. It was recommended to me by quite a few other actors, who told me that it really worked for them. It hasn't been that successful for me... yet. I suppose I should give it another go this weekend.

Television: I still love watching 'EastEnders'. Coming from the East End (Hackney) myself, I've been a fan since I was a kid. Channel 4's 'The Year the Earth Went Wild' was a real eye-opener! It was about 2011 being a year when every month was affected by natural disasters around the world. It was crazy!

Adam Deacon has been nominated for the Orange BAFTA Rising Star Award 2012
