The first teaser trailer for The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn in 3D and motion-capture animation was released May 17. The film is directed by Steven Spielberg and co-produced by Peter Jackson.
With the warning of "the mess of danger," the footage opens with the unveiling of a model of a tall ship with a unicorn masthead and ends with the full-size vessel taking waves on the high seas, starting the magical tale in search of treasure.
In the minute and a half in between are a series of brief glimpses of shots from the film, such as a single-engine plane crashing in the desert and Tintin hiding on board the boat, offering a glimpse of the film's intrigue but not revealing much of the story.
The family film in 3D stars Jamie Bell ( Billy Elliot) as Tintin, a young reporter who relentlessly pursues a good story and heads into high adventure. Also featured are Daniel Craig ( Quantum of Solace and the upcoming Cowboys & Aliens), Andy Serkis (the upcoming The Hobbit), Simon Pegg and Nick Frost ( Paul).
Tintin, a comic created by Belgian artist Hergé, appeared in weeklies and collected in books from the 1920s to the '70s.
The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn opens in 3D on October 26 in Belgium and parts of Europe, November 11 in the Middle East, South America and Asia, and December 23 in the US, plus the 26 in Australia.
