Among the many award nominees released December 14, including the Golden Globes and several critics' choices, Twitter released the top ten films tweeted in 2010, and Christopher Nolan's Inception took first place.
The list reflects the most popular films on Twitter, but does not correlate to the blockbusters. Some films may have made this list through marketing efforts, such as Paranormal Activity 2's "tweet your scream" campaign.
The most tweeted movies of 2010:
1. Inception
2. Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows
3. Scott Pilgrim vs. the World
4. Despicable Me
5. Karate Kid
6. The Last Airbender
7. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse
8. The Expendables
9. The Chronicles of Narnia
10. Paranormal Activity 2
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World came in third but its box office earnings were only $47 million worldwide, compared to fifth-place film The Karate Kid, which took $357 million, according to Box Office Mojo.
Inception and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows also made Twitter's 2010 top ten trending topics, which also included Gulf Oil Spill, FIFA World Cup, Haiti Earthquake, and Justin Bieber.
