British actress Kristin Scott Thomas will emcee the opening ceremonies, May 12, for the Festival de Cannes' 63rd edition, organizers announced, welcoming Alice in Wonderland director Tim Burton, the head of the jury.
The British actress, who lives in Paris, returns to the role she played in 1999 as host of the opening and closing ceremonies. Closing night this year occurs May 23, also at the Palais des Festivals.
Scott Thomas is filming Bel Ami with co-stars Robert Pattinson ( Twilight) and Uma Thurman ( The Producers), an adaptation of the novel by Guy de Maupassant directed by Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod.
On April 15, the Cannes festival director, Thierry Fremaux, will announce this year's film lineup at a news conference in Paris.
